How to flash a custom ROM in your Redmi K20 Pro/Mi 9T Pro?

I don’t think most of you reading this need an explanation for this. But still, in case you forgot, here’s a heads up!

To flash any custom ROM, you need to have a custom recovery installed on your phone.

We recommend TWRP, but you can use any custom recovery available for your device.

But before flashing the recovery, you need to have your phone unlocked. So the first step is to unlock your bootloader.

Step 1: Unlock Bootloader of your Redmi K20 Pro

1. Apply for bootloader unlock permissions from Xiaomi’s official website
2. APPLY HERE
3. You will receive the unlock permissions in 3 days on average.
4. Use the Mi unlock tool to unlock your bootloader.
Now enable “USB debugging” and “OEM Unlock” from Developer options.

Step 2: Flash TWRP via Fastboot

1. Download and install ADB & Fastboot drivers for your phone.
2. Go to C:\adb.
3. Download the TWRP recovery for Redmi K20 Pro from the link given below.
4. Place it in C:\adb and rename it to recovery.img
5. Connect your device with your PC using via USB, and enable “Allow USB debugging” from developer options if you don’t have that enabled already.
6. Open command prompt by typing cmd in the Search menu in Windows 10.
7. Now type this:
    fastboot devices 
8. You will see your device listed on the screen.
9. If you see the device, type or copy-paste the following command:
    fastboot flash recovery recovery.img 
10. TWRP recovery is installed on your device now.

Step 3: Flash the ROM in your Redmi K20 Pro or Mi 9T Pro

NOTE: This is the basic format of flashing any custom ROM on an Android phone using recovery. Some ROMs would require you to follow their specific installation method, which is similar to this, but still different. So please consult the xda-developers post of these ROMs for more info.
1. Download the ROM, Magisk, and GApps (if needed).
2. Boot into TWRP.
3. Now go to wipe section and wipe Data, System, Cache and ART cache.
4. Now go to install and select the ROM file.
5. Now install GApps & Magisk if needed.
6. Reboot.
